Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa, Kota Kinabalu, comprises 492 luxurious rooms and suites in two wings – the Kinabalu Wing and the Tanjung Wing. All rooms are designed to provide contemporary luxury inspired by the colours and textures of traditional Borneo.

Kinabalu Seaview rooms and suites offer memorable views of both the ocean and Mount Kinabalu, while rooms in the Tanjung Wing face the South China Sea.

Café TATU is a contemporary restaurant featuring a varied buffet breakfast and dinner in an open-kitchen design. Watch as the dish is prepared fresh on the spot at one of the cooking stations. Café TATU offers Mongolian, Tandoori, Asian noodles, dim sum, pasta, salads and desserts. Lunch is available à la carte.

Coco-Joe's Bar & Grill

This contemporary beach barbecue restaurant and bar serves refreshing cocktails, fresh seafood and an a la carte menu. Diners are welcome to engage in a cook-it-yourself barbecue experience with the family. Enjoy an unobstructed view of the South China Sea at the restaurant’s private beach-dining platforms.

Peppino

Peppino ranks amongst Kota Kinabalu’s treasured culinary locations for Italian fine dining. The restaurant is touted as one of Malaysia’s best restaurants since 2002, Peppino promises patrons impeccable authentic Italian cuisine complemented by unforgettable Shangri-La hospitality.

Contemporary and chic, the establishment is elegantly designed with warm timber furnishings and sleek leather furniture. Adorning the olive green walls are canvasses of beautifully hand painted olive trees contributed by local artist Martini Asap. 

Boasting a spacious dining area with seating capacity of 118 persons, diners have the option of dining al fresco at the romantic outdoor terrace or in air-conditioned comfort.

Shang Palace

Shang Palace is located at the ground level of the resort, overlooking the evergreen Kinabalu garden and the South China Sea. The classic traditional interiors enhance the experience of dining on our excellent Chinese cuisine.

The restaurant is renowned for its delectable dim sum, available for breakfast and lunch, as well as its mouth-watering choice of Cantonese and Chinese fare.

Shang Palace can accommodate private dinner functions for up to 138 persons. Two private dining rooms for 10 and 20 persons are also available.

Borneo Lounge and Bar

Borneo Lounge and Bar, a delightful venue to enjoy relaxing drinks and light snacks, is located in the main lobby. The lounge offers live entertainment in the evening.

Cool Box Ice Cream Bar

Revive energy levels and cool off at the resort's ice-cream bar, bearing sweet tidings for dessert-loving travellers. Dip into Cool Box Ice Cream Bar's teasingly tempting menu of heavenly treats such as tongue-numbing freezies, generously prepared milkshakes and child-approved sundaes.

Sunset Bar

Featuring a uniquely shaped roof inspired by the traditional indigenous homes of Borneo, Sunset Bar's allure lies in its unique location on a private island. This makes the bar an appealing venue for exclusive cocktail parties or romantic nuptials.

The setting easily accommodates up to 100 and features an approving selection of tipplers. Indulge in Royal Mojito, Pepperita and Borneo-inspired cocktails including Lepa-Lepa and the Kota Kinabalu Fruit Punch.

The resort's pool is a whopping 2,000-square-metre cool respite from the tropical heat and comes complete with tapered shoreline for children, a Jacuzzi and infinity pool section for adults.

Nature Reserve (Rasa Ria)

Take the shuttle to our sister resort, Rasa Ria, where you'll find a unique 64-acre Nature Reserve featuring Sabah's icon, the Orangutan. The Nature Reserve is aimed primarily at nature conservation and Orangutan rehabilitation.

The Rehabilitation Programme for Orangutans, carried out at the Nature Reserve, is the only one of its kind on the west coast of Sabah.

The Reserve is also home to a wide spectrum of Sabah wildlife, such as two species of deer, long-tailed macaques, pheasants, civets, bear cat, masked musang, monitor lizard, water hens, porcupines, slow lorises, pangolins, pitcher plants, fruit bats and 63 species of birds.
